How This Started
My fitness routine started in a modest club near 101 Fitness Ave in Toronto. It wasn’t perfect, but it was accessible, budget-friendly, and it helped me maintain consistency.
After that place closed, I saw how rapidly the fitness scene in Canada was changing. New clubs opened, new concepts emerged, and marketing grew louder than actual member experiences.
I began trying different gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Over time, those notes became this site, created to help others make better-informed choices.
My Approach to Reviews
Each review here comes from actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I focus on practical details that matter when selecting a membership.
When I review a fitness center, I typically:
- Spend ample time to understand routines, peak times, and patterns
- Visit on various days and times
- Experiment with multiple training formats and trainers
- Regularly use facilities to assess cleanliness and comfort
- Converse with other members about what stays consistent and what doesn’t
- Take notes right after each visit
I revise reviews when there are notable changes: renovations, leadership changes, price shifts, or new facilities. Each article displays a last updated date so you can gauge currentness.
What I Look For
My priorities may differ from yours, so these are the aspects I consider most important when evaluating a gym:
Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel thoughtfully designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm vibe?
Equipment Quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there enough variety? Are issues addressed promptly?
Crowd Management: Can you train during your preferred times without constant waiting?
Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness reflects how seriously management treats the member experience.
Honest Membership Practices: Clear pricing, clear rules, and no unpleasant surprises.
Beyond the Gym
Outside of training and writing, I live and work in Toronto. This project exists to help people choose fitness environments more easily and transparently.
